The Swiss voted overwhelmingly yesterday and endorsed the continuation and extension to Bulgaria and Romania signed bilateral agreements in 1999 with the European Union. The "yes" vote won by 59.6% voice and in 22 of the 26 cantons, denying all the opinion polls which predicted a much closer election, economic crisis and xenophobic campaign focusing on Roma conducted by the UDC (Union of the Centre, far right) helps.
